MARMOTTAN-MONET: The museum possesses THE WORLD'S LARGEST COLLECTION OF WORKS BY CLAUDE MONET. Impressionist and post-impressionist collections of the Musée Marmottan constitute a very complete and representative group of works of theses artistic movements.
It counts more than three hundred paintings, pastels, watercolours and sculptures of the Impressionists and Post-impressionists : Gustave Caillebotte, Eugène Carrière, Edgar Degas, Paul Gauguin, Armand Guillaumin, Eugène Manet, Berthe Morisot, Camille Pissaro, Auguste Renoir, Auguste Rodin, Alfred Sisley…Most of these works belonged to Claude Monet, Berthe Morisot or to the first patrons and great collectors of the period, such as Henri Rouart, and Georges de Bellio.


The Marmottan Monet Museum's theme-based tours give children the chance to discover various artists by looking at some of their masterpieces.

RODIN MUSEUM: The Rodin museum is housed in a beautiful eighteenth-century mansion, wich the sculptor leased from the state in return for the gift of all his work at his death.

In the garden, you will find his major works. Inside, you will find other notable works, included the Hand of God (or the Creation).

Inside, you can discover a whole room devoted to Camille Claudel, Rodin's pupil, model and lover.

ORSAY MUSEUM: A museum in a station.

In the center of Paris on the banks of the Seine, opposite The Tuilerie Gardens, the museum was installed in the former Orsay railway station built for the Universal Exhibition of 1900.

The Palace of Versailles: From the Seat of Power to the museum of the history of France... 

The Palace of Versailles which has been on Unesco's world heritage list for 30 years, is one of the most beautiful achievements of 18th century French art. The site began as Louis XIII'S hunting lodge before his son Louis XIV transformed and expanded it, moving the court and government of France to Versailles in 1682.

Each of the three French kings who lived there until the French Revolution added improvements to make it more beautiful.

CAMILLE CLAUDEL, French sculptor (dec 8,1864 - oct 19,1943)

IN THE STEPS OF CAMILLE CLAUDEL...:

Camille was born in Fere en Tardenois, Aisne (02), France.

In 1881, with her family, she lived in Paris: 135 bd Montparnasse 75006 Paris. She studied to the Colarossi Academy: 10 rue de la grande chaumiere 75006 Paris. Then Camille used tol live and work in her workshop: 117 rue Notre Dame des Champs 75006 Paris.

In 1885, She lived : 31 bd de Port Royal 75013 Paris. In 1888: 3 bd Blanqui 75013 Paris. In 1892: 11 avenue de la Bourdonnais 75007 Paris.

In  1898, Camille Claudel broke with Rodin; she rented a workshop: 63 rue de Turenne 75003 Paris.

In 1899, she settled: 19 quai Bourbon 75004 Paris. 


First, Camille studied with Alfred Boucher. Before moving to Florence (Italy) and after having taught Camille Claudel and others for over three years, Alfred Boucher asked Auguste Rodin to take over the instruction of his pupils. This is how Auguste Rodin and Camille Claudel met and their tumultuous and passionate relationship started.
Around 1884, she started working in Rodin's workshop: 182 rue de l'Universite 75007 Paris. Camille became a source of inspiration, his model and lover.   
After 1905, Camille appeared to be mentally ill. On march 1913, she was admitted to the psychiatric hospital of Ville Evrard in Neuilly sur Marne (93), eastern suburbs of Paris.

She died on october 19, 1943 in Montfavet (84), near Avignon.
